The fifth-generation F-35 Lightning stealthy multirole fighter-bomber from Lockheed Martin has been highly in demand. It was reported that the Pentagon had placed a large order for 375 aircraft. Now, there are signs that the Czech Republic may be considering purchasing 24 fighters.
Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister of Czech Republic, announced this. He stated that the Czech Republic’s military department will replace 12 Swedish-British Gripen fighters, currently serving with the Czech Air Force, with 24 F-35 Lightnings. The transaction could be worth several tens or billions of crowns, which is approximately 1 billion US dollars.
