Germany and the UK have restricted flights of Eurofighter and Tornado fighters. There is a suspicion of a malfunction of the ejection seats

Due to a suspected malfunction of the ejection seat, the Bundeswehr (Armed Forces of Germany), has restricted Eurofighter and Tornado fighters’ flights. DPA reported this.

According to the representative from the Bundeswehr, the manufacturer had warned about a problem. This is being investigated. Although the probability of an incident is low, the German Ministry of Defense stated that it was impossible for them to “fully confident” in their smooth operation. Fighter training flights were suspended as a precautionary measure.

The 74th tactical squadron (German Air Force) was unable to fly on Friday due to a possible problem. This demonstration flight was to have been attended by Christine Lambrecht, German Defense Minister. Although the agency doesn’t specify the number of aircraft involved, it states that the Bendeswehr was equipped with 234 combat aircraft at the end 2020. This includes a 141 Eurofighter as well as a 93 Tornado.
