Google has released the June update to Android. The Android Security Bulletin June 2022 Google has released the regular June update for Android. It addresses a variety of security flaws. First partners have already released patches. This security update covers all Android versions. Google Pixel was the first to deploy Android 10, 11 and 12.
The first Google partners responded to the critical vulnerabilities by releasing new patches. The update Google addresses some security flaws that could allow remote attackers (RCE vulnerability) to execute arbitrary codes on devices. Remote code execution vulnerabilities are especially serious as they could lead to information disclosure, system compromise and even takeover.
This update includes fixes for vulnerabilities in Media Framework and the Android kernel. Also, the security patch fixes faulty components in MediaTek, Unisoc and Qualcomm.
Security patch level strings
- Version 2022-06-01 contains the so-called partial Security Patch Level Suite, which includes four critical vulnerabilities as well as 18 high-level vulnerabilities.
- Additional security gaps have been addressed in version 2022-06-05, which is the complete Security Patch Level String.
Automatic updates were initiated
All Android users will be able to download the security update version 2022-06-01, or 202-06-05. All Pixel whips will receive the patch level 2022-06-05. Google states that all patches-level issues were communicated to Android partners prior to the release. Google has already begun the update for its Pixel devices. It must deliver within 48 hours.
BSI warns of vulnerabilities
Already, the Federal Office for Information Security is warning against exploiting security loopholes. To close these vulnerabilities, BurgerCERT recommends that you immediately install the manufacturer’s security update.
