According to Taiwan Business Times, India’s iPhone shipments reached 1.2 Million units in the second quarter. Comparable to last year’s same period, shipments increased 94% while Apple’s market share grew to about 4%.
Although the iPhone has been available in India for many decades, its sales have been very low in India due to high prices. Apple is still not in the top five Indian markets for sales volume. Canalys has just released the latest news that smartphone shipments in India fell 5% in the second quarter 2022.
The cheapest iPhone SE from the Apple product line is available in India starting in March. However, a source claims that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 min, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini were the most popular Apple smartphones on the Indian mobile phone market in the second quarter. These two generations combined sold nearly 1,000,000 units. All of them were made in India which was a key factor in India’s growth in iPhone sales.
According to Canalys data, smartphone shipments worldwide fell by 9% in the second quarter 2022. As the outlook for the smartphone industry is deteriorating, manufacturers are forced to rethink growth strategies in the second quarter.
The supply chain is currently concerned by the drop in smartphone demand.
