Microsoft released the July 2022 update, which is a scheduled annual product update for its Windows 10 discontinued model. It’s version 19045. In a cumulative update, the “new” Windows 10 22H2 was already visible in the packages. There aren’t any real innovations.
Windows 10 22H2 is now available for Insiders
Microsoft announced in a message that the July 2022 Update (also known as Windows 10 22H2 (2022 second half of the year), has been officially released as Windows 10 Build 19055.1826 in the Windows 10 Insiders Release Preview Channel. Microsoft also offers the final release as an image system for new installations. This means that build 19045 forms the basis of 22H2, and builds 19043, 19044 are 21H1 or 21H2 respectively.
No new features are officially permitted
The operating system will be discontinued. It does not offer any new functions and should be replaced with Windows 11 in the long-term. View a list of all Windows 10 versions.
Windows 10 21H2 is the latest “feature update”.
Microsoft’s primary focus now is on Windows 11 so it’s not surprising that Windows 10 21H2 was Microsoft’s last “feature update”. Although there are still many steps to be taken before Windows 10 residential product support ends (support ends October 14, 2025), Microsoft plans to provide security and service updates monthly in the future.
Insiders in the Release Preview channel will be able to download and install it under Settings and Windows Update/Windows 10, version 22H2. After an Insider upgrades to Windows 10 version 22H2, new service updates will be delivered automatically via Windows Update (the usual monthly update process). Microsoft
Windows 10 22H2 can also be downloaded through Windows Server Update Services, (WSUS), and the Azure Marketplace. Insiders need to actively review the update through Windows Updates in order to see it. Insiders for Business companies that are part of the program automatically receive the update to validate the systems.
In the shadows of Windows 11
Microsoft will quietly distribute Windows 10 22H2 through Windows Update. The feature updates for Windows 11’s predecessor are not discussed on the insider program website. Microsoft is now focusing exclusively on the fall 2023 release of Windows 11 22H2 & Windows 11 23H2, which are scheduled for launch in autumn 2023.
Are you already using Windows 11
In October 2021, 65 percent of the respondents said they had not switched to Windows 11 yet. This was followed by a rise in community rejection to 71% in January. It’s time to update the inventory just in time for Windows 11 22H2 (aka Sun Valley 2) release. Are you switching from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
