Rohan Naidu, of Harvard Center for Astrophysics, made an important discovery. He discovered a galaxy that existed 13.5 million years ago. This represents approximately 97.8% the age of our universe.
GLASS-13, the galaxy that formed 300 million years after Big Bang, is named. ” We could be looking at the distantst starlight” Rohan Naidu stated, describing both his discovery as well as the GLASSZ13 image.
GLASS-13 was discovered in the analysis of so-called “early-release” data from NIRcam, the main thermal imaging camera of the James Webb orbital observatory. The Galaxy appears as a red spot in the middle of the visible spectrum when it is translated from infrared.
Naidoo presented his findings in a scientific journal with his team of 25 astronomers around the globe. Although the data are still being submitted as a preprint (i.e. they haven’t yet been peer-reviewed), Naidu is optimistic about the findings. He claims that Marco Castellano (Marco Castellano), an additional group of astronomers, also analyzed the data and came to similar conclusions.
Scientists have also discovered GLASSZ13. She is about 100 million years younger than her counterpart. The Earth is 500 parsecs away from both galaxies.
